Dutch Silver Ducats 1989-1992-1993 Proof. Restrikes of the Historical Silver Ducat.

Hi Ladies and Gentlemen welcome to Silver.International ! Some of you might have already seen some of the Dutch proof silver Ducat editions on my channel. But since I almost have this restrike series complete I thought it would be best to start from the beginning of this series and work our way up through the years until we arrive in the present year of 2021. The silver Ducat restrikes are based on the historical Silver Ducat and is comprised of 87.3 silver.
With a set weight of 28.25 grams 0.9083 ozt the silver Ducat contains 2466 grams or 0.7928 ozt of actual silver. The Silver Ducat is part of Dutch coin law meaning that the Dutch Government guarantees the weight and silver content.
And all though it doesnt has the status of legal tender this is the actual Dutch version of silver bullion. The Golden Ducat would have a continued presence during the centuries but minting of the silver Ducats ended in the 19th century. In 1989 the first restrikes of the silver Ducats were issued in a quantity of 35.747 pieces and according to the Dutch coin catalog hold a value of 25 or 30. No restrikes were minted in the years of 1990 and 1991.
In 1992 of the 2nd edition restrike 10.900 Ducats were produced holding the same catalog value of 25 or 30. 12.500 silver Ducats were struck of the 1993 yearly edition but the catalog value for this one is given at 35 or 42.
Not really sure at the moment why the catalog value is appraised higher. Now mind you that the values that I mention come from the 2020 version.
So it could be that the current numismatic values are appraised higher.
This relating to the price of silver that has risen of course last year. The reason why Ive started with the 1989 1992 and 1993 Silver Ducats is because these three are all based on 1 and the same historical Ducat from 1816. From 1994 the Dutch Royal Mint would introduce a new commercially based concept where the quantity minted each year would be significantly lower.
Leading to a higher purchasing price on grounds of rarity. But they would also issue the follow up silver Ducat restrikes in a Provincial matter starting with the historical 7 Provinces and later to the modern and current 12 Provinces. Which also is more of a commercial motive since its better to sell 12 modern Provincial Ducats in a series than only 7 historical Provincial Ducats. The cool thing however is that starting from 1994 the design would change each edition.
Thats because the silver Ducat would be made exactly according to a historical silver Ducat from the Province which would be highlighted that edition.
