Full transcript: Today were going to be taking a look at the best hitch options available for the 2016 Ford Transit T150.
Now once you look up the hitches for this vehicle these are going to be the top three that youll see.
At the top we have the CURT class 3 part number C13193.
In the middle here we have the CURT class 4 part number C14012.
At the bottom we have our Draw-Tite part number 75912.
Lets go ahead and take a look at some of the differences.
Now the first difference is going to be with the CURT class 4 here.
Thats going to be for more heavy duty towing while the CURT class 3 and the Draw-Tite class 3 are going to be for more of your lighter loads such as cargo carriers or smaller trailers.
Now the two class 3 hitches have these wider openings for your safety chain loops while the class 4 has these smaller ones which may be a hindrance in the long run.
Clearance will be relatively the same for the two CURT hitches.
However the Draw-Tite may stick a little bit further out under the bumper.
Also while all the hitches have the 58 pinhole here the Draw-Tite actually has a second one as you can see here.
Thats going to be for the j-pin stabilization anti-rattle device.
Also you can see that the Draw-Tite model here has this extra plate. If you were wanting to mount your wiring harness on the outside of the vehicle you would have this to mount it to.
Also at the end of the Draw-Tite hitch you can see how it has a more rounded end to it while the CURTs have more of a flush end to it.
Also the class 4 has the square tube shape while the two class 3s have this round tube shape which is more of an aesthetic choice on how you like the hitches to look underneath your vehicle.
Another difference is how these actually mount up.
While both class 3s have three mounting points the class 4 is going to have four only two being underneath.
You have two up here that will be going into the side. Now with the CURT class 3 the tongue weight is going to be 900 pounds.
Thats going to be the force pushing down on the hitch.
Then its going to have a towing capacity of 6000 pounds.
Thats how much weight it can actually pull.
With the CURT class 4 the max tongue weight is going to be 800 pounds and the max pulling is going to be 8000 pounds. Then with our Draw-Tite the max tongue weights going to be 750 pounds and a max towing capacity of 5000 pounds.
Now once you were to add weight distribution to all three of these with the CURT class 3 its going to be 900 pounds tongue weight and 8000 pounds towing capacity.
With the CURT class 4 its going to be 1000 pound tongue weight and a 10000 pound towing capacity.
Then with the Draw-Tite its going to be an 800 pound tongue weight and 8000 pound towing capacity.
However you always want to double-check with your manufacturers instructions to make sure it can tow those weights.
In conclusion when it comes to both the towing and the weight capacity the CURT class 4 is going to be a step above the others just simply because its for those heavier-duty situations.
However with clearance all three are pretty much going to be on par with each other.
All it really depends on is what youre going to be using your hitches for to make your decision.
