Канал: In the realm of particle physics observing the atomic nucleus has always been a challenging endeavor.
The breakthrough came with the advent of powerful particle accelerators like the Large Hadron Collider LHC at CERN.
These colossal machines accelerate subatomic particles such as protons to near-light speeds before colliding them.
The LHC the worlds largest and most powerful particle accelerator became operational in 2008.
It consists of a 27-kilometer ring of superconducting magnets and a number of accelerating structures to boost the energy of the particles.

The images captured are not direct photographs but rather reconstructions from data collected by the LHCs detectors.
These detectors capture millions of particle collisions which are then analyzed by powerful computers to reconstruct the events that occurred during the collisions.
This groundbreaking work has not only provided a deeper understanding of the atomic nucleus but also confirmed the existence of the Higgs boson a particle that gives mass to other particles.
The ongoing research at the LHC and other particle accelerators continues to push the boundaries of our knowledge about the universe from the smallest scales of atomic nuclei to the vast complexities of cosmology.
